Project Description

Gwynedd Council have commissioned a new Housing First project to operate across the county of Gwynedd, working with individuals and couples who are homeless and have complex needs such as mental health, substance use and criminal offending history. Housing First is based on the principle that people with chronic housing and support needs should be offered independent and permanent housing first with support built around their needs, rather than expecting people to access hostels or temporary accommodation and prove their housing ‘readiness’ before securing a permanent home. The project is expected to be operational by November 2024.

Purpose of Role

Responsibility for coordinating and providing a flexible person centred, solution focused service, applying an assertive engagement and positive risk-taking approach, in line with Housing First principles. Within legal, moral and ethical boundaries, Housing First provision focuses on the long-term goal of creating sustainable tenancies and maximising connectivity with the local community.  This role will work in an outreach capacity with those service users who may primarily need support with their mental health, enabling service users to access the services and interventions they need to build their resilience, gain confidence, reduce harm and acquire the personal and social skills they need to meet their aspirations.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure.  

Please note: Driving Licence and access to own vehicle is essential for this role.
