Project Description
This service works in partnership with the DWP, working across 3 targeted localities within the north of Wales. The aims of the project are to engage with people who have a substance dependency, with a view to
Improving their support network and coping skills
Encouraging engagement with Substance Misuse Services
Building trust and openness with their Job Centre Plus Work Coach
Promoting work-related activities and other supportive interventions
Upskilling Job Centre Plus staff, on identifying and working with people who use substances
There will be 1 Peer Mentor in each of the pilot areas. The Peer Mentor will use their own lived experience of substance dependency to support and inspire Mentee's. who will liaise closely with their local Job Centre Plus, advice & support agencies, and existing Wallich services to identify suitable Mentee’s and work alongside them to identify strengths and their preferred outcomes using trauma informed and person centred coaching methods, devising a SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timed) plan for the Mentee.
The role will be carried out in various locations in each area, which will include; Wallich premises, Job Centre Plus offices, partner agency offices, Mentee’s home/accommodation, plus supporting the projects Management to build a network of other co-location options.
Interventions will range in type, from bespoke 1-2-1, to tailored group sessions in areas like; CV Writing, Interview Skills, Disclosing Criminal Convictions.
Purpose of Role
The postholder will work alongside Job Centre Plus and Partner Agencies in 3 pilot areas, to identify and support individuals with a substance dependency, toward; improving their support network, engaging with substance misuse services, building trust and openness with their work coach, taking part in work-related activity and/or additional support interventions.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
Please note: A driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential for this role.
We are not utilising agencies with this role and kindly ask that agencies do not approach to assist us with this vacancy.
