An exciting time to join our People Team
Following a recent internal promotion and continued growth within our People & Talent function, we’re looking for a person centred and organised People Assistant to join The Wallich.
This is more than an administrative role. It’s an opportunity to be the first point of contact for our people, helping managers and colleagues feel supported, informed and confident.
You’ll join a People Team that is reflective, values-led and committed to doing HR differently: psychologically informed, trauma-aware and focused on enabling managers, not just enforcing policy.
What will you be doing?
As a People Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in delivering a responsive and compassionate People service across the organisation.
You’ll act as a trusted first point of engagement for staff and managers, helping to resolve straightforward People queries, encouraging self service where appropriate, and knowing when and how to escalate more complex matters to our People and Wellbeing Partners.
You’ll support the full employee lifecycle and ensure our systems, records and processes are accurate, compliant and handled with care; recognising that behind every process is a person.
You’ll be part of a growing People & Talent team that values curiosity, reflection and continuous improvement; and isn’t afraid to challenge traditional HR approaches when they don’t serve people well.
You’ll be responsible for:
Acting as the first point of contact for People-related queries from staff, managers and external stakeholders
Providing timely, customer-focused and psychologically informed responses, resolving issues within scope and escalating appropriately
Encouraging managers and colleagues to use self-service guidance, policies and resources via our intranet; always remembering we’re there to support.
Supporting the end-to-end employee lifecycle, including DBS compliance, annual leave updates, leavers and exit interviews
Providing administrative support to People Partners, including minute-taking for Employee Relation and change processes, issuing standard letters and maintaining accurate records
Acting as a key contact for queries relating to our HR Information System (Access), including employee records, work patterns and leave
Processing employment changes such as redeployments, TUPE transfers, flexible working requests and reasonable adjustments
Helping to build a strong, integrated People & Talent team ethos and role-modelling The Wallich values in everything you do
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who is organised, approachable and genuinely enjoys supporting people.
You’ll bring:
Strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail
Confidence handling sensitive information with empathy, discretion and professionalism
Has capacity to drive and access to their own vehicle.
Experience in administrative or customer-focused roles (HR experience is desirable but not essential)
Working knowledge of employment legislation, GDPR principles and best practice (or a willingness to learn)
Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office and HR systems
The ability to juggle multiple priorities while remaining calm and supportive
A positive, flexible and solutions-focused approach
Works collaboratively across teams, building productive relationships that improve communication, problem‑solving, and overall performance.
