An exciting time to join our People Team

Following a recent internal promotion and the growth of our People function, we’re looking for an enthusiastic, people-centred People Partner to join us at The Wallich.

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity. Our People Team has expanded to include a Wellbeing Partner, and together we’re shaping a more psychologically informed, trauma aware and manager enabled approach to people practice.

If you love coaching managers, navigating complex employee relations with compassion and helping build practical tools that genuinely support people — this could be the role for you.

What will you be doing?

As a People Partner, you’ll be a trusted adviser and coach to managers across the organisation, supporting around 50% of our workforce. You’ll work proactively and relationally, helping managers feel confident, capable and supported in their people responsibilities.

You’ll be joining a People Team that is growing, reflective, values-led — and not afraid to challenge traditional HR approaches when they don’t serve people well.

You’ll be:

  • Coaching and mentoring managers to build confidence, capability and consistency.

  • Managing a varied and complex employee relations caseload, applying strong legislative knowledge with empathy and professionalism.

  • Working collaboratively with the Strategic People Lead, People Partner, Wellbeing Partner and People Assistants to embed psychologically informed and trauma-aware practices.

  • Contributing to People-led projects, including the development of manager toolkits, guidance and practical resources.

  • Supporting health, wellbeing and attendance matters with a balanced, person-centred approach.

  • Advising on TUPE processes and organisational change

  • Helping shape policies and guidance that are clear, accessible and human led.

  • Using people data and insight to inform proactive solutions.

  • Acting as a role model for our values, inclusion commitments and people-first culture.

Who are we looking for?

  • Confident and credible in employee relations and employment legislation, using this within a partnership model

  • Passionate about coaching, mentoring and enabling managers.

  • Skilled in handling sensitive issues with empathy, boundaries and professionalism.

  • Comfortable working in complexity and ambiguity

  • Curious, reflective and open to doing things differently

  • Aligned with trauma-informed and psychologically informed approaches

  • Level 5 CIPD (or equivalent) or a willingness to work towards it.

  • Confidence using HR systems and people data

  • Resilience, warmth and emotional intelligence

  • The ability to travel and have your own vehicle.

Why choose The Wallich?

The Wallich is a leading homelessness and rough sleeping charity in Wales. Everything we do is rooted in our values:

Courageous. Determined. Authentic. Compassionate. Community.

We believe:

  • People do their best work when they feel safe, supported and understood.

  • Managers deserve coaching, not just policies.

  • Trauma-informed practice should be in everything we do.

  • Belonging, dignity and kindness are everyone’s responsibility.

Ready to be part of something meaningful?

If you’re excited by the idea of shaping people practice, supporting managers with confidence and compassion, and contributing to a psychologically informed workplace — we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now and help us create a work environment where people can truly thrive

Please note: This is a Hybrid position so can be based anywhere in Wales. The role will involve occasional travel to our hub at 18 Park Place in Cardiff as well as services across Wales when required so a Driving Licence and access to own vehicle is essential for this role.
