Driver essential for the role of Senior Cleaner/Caretaker. You will be required to drive a transit van and also have access to a vehicle that is covered by business insurance for times when the company vehicle may be off the road.

Project Description

The project operates across Swansea and works with priority needs homeless people to provide housing related support within temporary accommodation as a safe alternative to Bed and Breakfast accommodation. The service provides residential support with the aim of meeting individuals’ needs, which promote independence and lead to a sustainable move-on. The project is funded through the Supporting People Programme Grant and is required to meet the Welsh Government’s National Outcomes Framework. The Framework’s four main aims are:

  • Promoting Personal and Community Safety

  • Promoting Independence and Control

  • Promoting Economic Progress and Financial Control

  • Promoting Health and Wellbeing

Purpose of Role

We're looking to recruit an enthusiastic and energetic person to join a team dedicated to providing clients with a safe environment in which to build their confidence and promoting opportunities for positive change.

As the post-holder, you will be responsible for managing our voids and ensuring all 44 properties we manage receives the cleaning and maintenance they require. You will be doing this onsite and in partnership with a multidisciplinary team of support staff, specialist staff and external partners.

The Successful Cleaner/Caretaker will come from a hands-on background and be confident in general/domestic Cleaning and DIY tasks. Those with experience as a Handy Person, Trade Worker or Caretaker will be ideal, although those from other backgrounds will be considered. You will be able to work autonomously and be a team player to support the team on other activities.  Essential Requirements of the Senior Cleaner/Caretaker Role:

- Cleaning void properties to a high standard for people to move into.

- Completing routine maintenance checks and reporting issues to the relevant   contractors which will include Local Authority and Housing Association departments.

- Indoor maintenance including, basic carpentry and plumbing, replacing fixtures, locksmith, painting, and decorating.

- Communication Skills to liaise effectively with external contractors and internal departments.

- IT skills to liaise electronically with internal and external partners using emails, Teams and mobile telephones.

-  Admin skills to keep accurate stock check records, log work that has been completed, raise requisitions, maintain vehicle check documentation.

The Successful Senior Cleaner/Caretaker:

- Hands on background and be confident in domestic Cleaning and basic DIY tasks.

- Administrative and IT skills and knowledge.

- You will be able to work autonomously.

- Team player to support the ABBA team on other activities.

- Able to drive and maintain the company transit vehicle.

This role is subject to a Basic DBS disclosure.
